Either way, the books are hard to follow without more instruction.

Having said this, I would also have to say that I have spent an incredible amount of time pondering over these books, more so than any other music books. I had to think a lot about the material in these books and thinking is a good thing.

Not being instructed to a great degree has lead me to figuring out the material and, how to use the material in my music - that is independent thinking - another good thing! There are still aspects of the material in these books that I don't completely understand. That's not really a bad thing. I will understand the material in these books when I am ready. One thing that I would suggest is a supplement book with detailed explanations of the material, maybe with examples written out for the guitar in normal notation and/or tablature. That would make the intent of the material in the books more clear for the average reader and/or student.

This would also speed along the understanding of the material so that the reader can use that material in his/her music. Thanks, James Murrell r.
